Book: Castle in the Air

Title: Castle in the Air
Author: Diana Wynne Jones
Rating:      (4/4)
Quote: "The djinn had stolen away Flower-in-the-Night, whom Abdullah loved more than his own soul, just at the moment when she was about to run into his arms, and there seemed nothing he could do. He wept."

Editorial Review: Abdullah was a young and not very prosperous carpet dealer. His father, who had been disappointed in him, had left him only enough money to open a modest booth in the Bazaar. When he was not selling carpets, Abdullah spent his time daydreaming. In his dreams he was not the son of his father, but the long-lost son of a prince. There was also a princess who had been betrothed to him at birth. He was content with his life and his daydreams until, one day, a stranger sold him a magic carpet.
In this stunning sequel to Howl's Moving Castle, Diana Wynne Jones has again created a large-scale, fast-paced fantasy in which people and things are never quite what they seem. There are good and bad djinns, a genie in a bottle, wizards, witches, cats and dogs (but are they cats and dogs?), and a mysterious floating castle filled with kidnapped princesses, as well as two puzzling prophecies. The story speeds along with tantalizing twists and turns until the prophecies are fulfilled, true identities are revealed, and all is resolved in a totally satisfying, breathtaking, surprise-filled ending. (From Amazon)

Summary: Abdullah was a daydreaming carpet seller, whose relatively normal and boring life was interrupted by a seller who sold him a magic carpet. After that, things got a bit out of hand as one by one, it seemed that his daydreams were coming true. Setting out on a journey to rescue his princess, he meets and sees with his own eyes the magical world that he lives in. There are several characters that reoccur from the previous book, but even without reading it, the main storyline is still enjoyable.

This book is witty, entertaining, and charming.

Three words.

Horrible User Interface.

Sites: Zoho Writer

https://writer.zoho.com/home?serviceurl=%2Findex.do

I love this site.
My computer didn't come with Word, so this is a great, FREE alternative.
It looks like it has all the functions that Word has, plus more.
I'm also happy that Zoho doesn't take any of my computer memory.
It has tabbing, when you want to work on multiple documents without switching windows.

Features: (PLUSSES)
  • Line Spacings
  • Fonts
  • Cool sharing functions (eg. live comments is possible)
What it could use more: (CONS)
  • Moar fonts. Also, give us a preview on what the font looks like. I might remember what Impact looks like, but Book Antiqua? nope.avi
  • Now this is something I am actually upset about: The site's custom dictionary does not include sections for Japanese or Chinese. D:
  • Sometimes it has that annoying ability of switching back to Arial, 11pt, when I want it to stay in Times New Roman, 12pt. *raeges* Edit: This can be fixed! :D Go to page setup, and then page format, and then set the default font and size to whatever you wish!
  • I have received sometimes, a weird indent, or an unwanted "enter".
  • The Indenting mark on the ruler doesn't work on Internet Explorer.
  • IF YOU REFRESH BY ACCIDENT, THINKING F5 = SPELLCHECK AND NEVER SAVED, YOU LOSE EVERYTHING. ((EDIT: ACTUALLY, IT ISN'T! THANK GOD, MY ESSAY'S STILL IN THERE!))

Voicebank Wise
Kaninchen is a really nice UTAU. The thing is, I first thought that he was a shota.
In Campanella, his voice was really high. It was only after I checked the voice samples when I realized the samples were deep.
As in, REALLY deep. So deep, it was actually hard to hear. (alone, that is)
But the voice works really well after putting it with an UST. But despite that, I had to lower Campanella down an octave so the voice would be similar to what it was in Daydream Flight video, which the creator made.
He comes fully oto-ed and frq-ed.
His voice is breathy, but not too breathy.
If lowered down an octave, his HANASU is unclear.
There is a small instance of static when he "la's" a lot.
Final Rating: 8/10

Design Wise:
FYI, there is a metal/rock band out there named Kaninchen. Apparently, Kaninchen means Rabbit in German.
Kaninchen's design comprises of
-A "Crypton" belt, except much thicker.
-An eyepatch.
-Uneven Sleeves, (I find the overly long sleeve odd).
-His hair...I can't tell whether it's white or pink... ((wait, it's both..))
-A bunny hood (reminds me of Yuzuki Yukari)
-Cyber boots.

Not the most original outfit, but then again, not the most generic, either.
He's unique enough to be...unique, I guess.
Still, he's going to be fun to draw.
